Rehab with Force Plates

At Good Reps, we assess, not guess. We leverage technology to help us make decisions to best optimize your rehab. Force plates are electronic devices that measure ground reaction forces, which are the forces exerted on the ground by the body during movement. Force plates can be used to assess a variety of factors related to rehabilitation, including:

  • Range of motion (ROM): Force plates can be used to measure the amount of force generated during movements throughout the entire ROM. This information can be used to track progress over time and ensure that patients are regaining their full ROM.

  • Strength: Force plates can also be used to measure strength in individual muscle groups and joints. This information can be used to develop individualized strengthening programs and track progress over time.

  • Power: Power is the ability to generate force quickly. Force plates can be used to measure power in individual muscle groups and joints. This information can be used to develop individualized power training programs and track progress over time.

  • Balance: Force plates can also be used to measure balance, which is essential for maintaining stability during functional activities. This information can be used to identify balance deficits and develop targeted training programs to improve balance.

Force plates can be used to implement a variety of rehabilitation programs, including:

  • Post-operative rehabilitation: Force plates can be used to track progress during post-operative rehabilitation and ensure that patients are meeting the necessary milestones before returning to normal activities. For example, a patient who has undergone ACL reconstruction surgery can use a force plate to track their strength and power in the injured leg. The patient can also use a force plate to track their balance and ensure that they are able to maintain stability during functional activities before returning to sport. This is highly valuable as we can objectively make decisions and decrease your risk for re injury.

  • Sports rehabilitation: Force plates can be used to rehabilitate athletes after injuries. Force plates can be used to track progress over time and ensure that athletes are meeting the necessary milestones before returning to sport. For example, a basketball player who has torn their ACL can use a force plate to track their vertical jump height and ensure that they are able to generate enough power before returning to the court.
